Title: The Wreck of The Mary Deare
Number
of pages: 95 pages
One day, in the
middle of the sea, John Sands and his friends saw a big ship. There was a sort
of lifeless about her. On the ship written: MARY DEARE-Southampton. John Sands
decided to climb up the ship. On the ship, Sands met a strange person. He is
man named Gideon Patch. Patch told Sands about what had happened to the ship.
But he didn’t tell completely.
In short, Sands and
Patch decided to board the ship. They have to work in the engine and the boiler
room. They took turns. But unluckily, the ship got stuck. The ship got stuck in
Minkies- an island covered with rocks. Now the ship was sinking.
Sands and Patch
left the ship with a rubber dinghy. Before it, they gathered food and charts, a
compass and the two raincoats from the cabin door. Shortly after midday, they
were picked up by a cross-Channel boat coming from Peter Port.
The Wreck of the
Mary Deare involved Sands to also be a witness in the court. But strangely,
Patch didn’t tell the court about the last location of Mary Deare. It’s getting
stranger at the second day of the inquiry when Patch disappeared. Sands
eventually met Patch outside the court. Patch asked Sands’ help to bring him
back to the Mary Deare to get some evidences.
Higins and his
partner tried to stop them. But they failed. Sands and Patch reached the half
sunk Mary Deare at noon. When they arrived the aero engines had gone. At the
next day, the ship crushed into two pieces. At night, both of them became very
weak because they had been too long in wet clothes without any food.
Life savers came to
save just as they became weaker and weaker. They brought them to the hospital.
Because of the evidence, the accusations against Patch had already dropped and
his name was cleared. The curious case of the Mary Deare finally revealed and
solved.
