If I was a Principal
When I was listening to my teacher, my friend asked me “Do you understand what the teacher is saying?” I said, “Not really.” And she said, “I don’t either.” Nowadays many students spend hours at different courses. Why? Because the teacher’s explanation is often not clear enough for the students. I’m not satisfied yet with today’s school so I’m dreaming to be a principal.
If I were a principal the first thing I would do is recruiting experienced teachers. It’s very important to improve the students’ scores. Because an experienced teacher knows how to make the students understand much better than an inexperienced teacher.
The second thing I would do is making after-school study programs. This program will give students time to ask study materials which they don’t understand, so that they can get a higher score.
The third thing I would do is giving only one remedial chance. Most school gives 2 or more remedial chances. This makes the students think that they still have many chances to fix their bad scores so they don’t study hard. If there were only one remedial chance, I ‘m sure the students would study harder and get higher scores.
The fourth thing I would do is to balance practical and theoretical studies. Teachers usually give only a few little practical activities. They only focus on the theoretical study. It is boring and makes students only good at theory but know very little application. In my junior high school, many of my friends who got good scores on their theory tests got bad scores on their practice tests. I think the theory will useless if you don’t how to apply it.
The fifth thing I would do is to give more training on presentation. If I were a principal, I would make my students good public speakers. You need presentation skill in the workplace to convince your costumers or even your boss.
The sixth thing I would do is to have an English day. For me English is a must. Why? Because everything needs English. For example applying for job, speaking with foreigners, surfing in the internet, etc.
The seventh thing I would do is to give a week’s holiday before the final test. This thing will help students concentrate more and get good scores
The eighth thing I would do is to give my students life-skill training. In the life-skill training, students will be trained to be more independent. It is useful for them to be ready to face the real life.
